In 10 years they have built a team of 800 IT experts. “The development of Sii Gdansk is impressive” says Mayor of Gdansk

10 years ago, when the Tricity branch was opened, there were 14 engineers. Today the team consists of 800 people implementing projects for over 40 clients from all over the world. – It is incredible that currently one in every thousand people living in Tricity works at Sii – says Michael Desmurs, Sii Gdansk Branch Director.

Sii Poland was established in 2006 and in a few years it grew into a solid enterprise, which is a leader of the IT and engineering services provider. Now the company hires over 3200 specialists in 9 branches localised in Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Poznan, Cracow, Lodz, Lublin, Katowice and since recently in Rzeszow.

In Tricity, Sii has been present for 10 years. In January 2008 in the newly established office at Heweliusza Street 14 people were employed. – I remember that we had to put the furniture together on our own and I painted Sii logo on the wall myself – says Michael Desmurs, Sii Gdansk Branch Director. – Since then a lot has changed, but not everything. Development is still on the top of our priority list. This is an important moment to us, but we are focusing on the future. Our goal is strengthening the position of a leader on the international market. Currently Benelux and Scandinavia are of strategic importance to us – Desmurs adds.

Sii as the top employer of the IT sector

Currently over 800 IT experts are employed in the Tricity branch. – The progress of Sii Gdansk is impressive. The company chose Gdansk when our city was not such a popular location for business as it is today. We can say that Gdansk and Sii followed a similar path. The development of business offers of Sii and Gdansk was equally dynamic. Currently Sii is one of the top IT employers in the Pomorskie region and Gdansk successfully attracts more and more investors – says Paweł Adamowicz, the Mayor of Gdansk.

Today Sii is a key player on the Tricity job market. – It would be hard to imagine a better present for 10 year anniversary than passing the number of 800 people. It is incredible that currently one in every thousand people living in Tricity works at Sii – says Sii Gdansk Branch Director. In the Tricity branch of the company both latest and legacy technologies, such as Java, C++, .Net, Angular JS, Embedded C, Python, Xamarin or SQL, are utilised. Sii Gdansk pursues projects cooperating with over 40 clients from all over the world providing IT, R&D and engineering services.

Sii Gdansk develops dynamically. Currently there are over 100 open vacancies. This tendency will continue. In the following year, the company plans to extend the team by 250 engineers. Among the most sought for profiles are Senior .NET Developer, Senior Java Developer, Senior Front-end Developer and Embedded Developer.

Employees satisfaction as a top priority

Sii has been awarded the Great Place to Work title three years in a row. It is Sii’s priority to maintain employees satisfaction on the highest level, hence the great emphasis on work atmosphere. – We support our employees self-development both at work by offering over 50 trainings a year, and after hours by sponsoring several actively functioning interest groups. We organise integrations for the entire branch and smaller meetings for teams – says Magdalena Misieiwicz, Deputy of Recruitment & HR Department Manager.

At the end of September, the Gdansk branch of Sii has changed its office. The company has moved to the newest office building in Tricity, which is Olivia Star located at Grunwaldzka Street 472 C in Gdansk Oliwa. On the floors from 14 to 18 Sii Gdansk currently has at its disposal 6500 sq m, which is a thousand more than previously, when Sii Gdansk offices were also situated in Olivia Business Centre, in the buildings Tower, Point, Six and Gate. In the latter the company still resides on the second floor. The new office of Sii Gdansk offers the most stunning view of the Gdansk Bay and Tricity Landscape Park.

Sii concentrates its technical competencies in Competency Centers. These units have a high level of specialization in specific areas and technologies like: Testing, Digital, Engineering, SharePoint, Dynamics365, Business Intelligence, SAP, Salesforce, Legacy Systems, IT Operations, BPO and Training. Those devoted to application building, engineering and partially testing are localised in Gdansk.
