Samsung R&D is conducting advanced work on next-generation communication technologies that underpin 5G, from core architecture (5G Core) and the radio access layer (RAN) to operations, administration, and maintenance systems (OAM).
As the project progressed and the telecommunications environment became more complex, it became necessary to strengthen the project teams responsible for developing OAM software used to manage and monitor network infrastructure. The goal was to accelerate development, improve efficiency, and ensure full compliance with the strict security standards applied in R&D projects.
Samsung R&D was looking for an experienced technology partner that could provide a highly skilled engineering team and deliver the project in a secure, controlled environment meeting the organization’s strict security policy requirements.
Designing 5G solutions in a regulated environment
Sii Polska assembled a specialized team of engineers with expertise in system programming and network technologies. They worked directly on OAM systems as well as 5G Core and RAN components, in line with the client’s technical and process requirements.
The scope of work included:
- Analysis of OAM system requirements and specifications compliant with 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) standards
- Design and implementation of key software components
- Development of an architecture optimized for the OpenStack cloud environment
- Development of microservices for 5G Core and RAN networks
- Ensuring a secure working environment compliant with the R&D Security Policy, including dedicated VLANs, secure SVPN connectivity, access control, and video monitoring
- Ongoing project maintenance and development in the EPAT (Engineering Process-as-a-Team) model, with a core team of 5 FTEs and the option to scale further
The project was delivered in line with the ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) methodology, a set of internationally recognized IT service management standards, which ensured a structured and predictable delivery process.
Innovative solutions for the 'network of tomorrow' with full compliance with R&D requirements
With the support of Sii Poland, Samsung R&D accelerated the development of 5G OAM solutions, gaining greater flexibility and access to specialized engineering expertise.
The dedicated Sii team developed modern solutions for the 5G Core and RAN architecture, ensuring compliance with security requirements, high code quality and full integration with the existing system components.
The project enabled the development of advanced 5G network monitoring and administration functionalities, which translated into greater efficiency of the telecommunications infrastructure.
Close cooperation between the Sii and Samsung R&D teams made it possible to deliver enterprise-grade solutions for the “network of tomorrow”, strengthening Samsung R&D’s competitive edge in the global technology race.
