Fragmented endpoint operations – the need for one global management model
Mercator Medical’s rapidly growing international footprint led to a diverse landscape of devices and locally managed endpoint operations. Until then, local teams used on-premises tools and their own practices, which resulted in fragmented processes, higher operational workload, security gaps, and limited ability to maintain consistent compliance with medical industry standards across all markets.
As the organization continued to expand globally, keeping a uniform level of device security, availability, and support became a significant challenge. Mercator Medical therefore needed to centralize and standardize endpoint management across laptops, mobile devices, and operational equipment. This would make device governance more consistent and onboarding more repeatable, also for remote workers who required secure, preconfigured hardware.
To address these challenges, Mercator Medical entrusted the project to Sii Poland due to its industry knowledge, strong team of infrastructure specialists, and a strategic partnership with Microsoft.
Device management and high-security endpoint operations
The project started with a detailed analysis of the existing solution and the gathering of business and technical requirements. Based on this assessment, Sii prepared an eight-stage implementation plan scheduled for delivery over six months and structured into three phases: test, pilot, and production rollout.
The scope of work included:
- Centralizing and standardizing the management of laptops and mobile devices across the entire organization using Microsoft Intune
- Automating provisioning with Windows Autopilot and Zero Touch for iOS/Android
- Enforcing high security standards, including encryption, compliance rules, and conditional access
- Migrating all business applications to the Company Portal without administrator privileges
Standardized and automated endpoint management with stronger security governance
The modern endpoint management model brought structure and consistency to device operations across Mercator Medical’s European branches. Standardized Windows 11 deployment with unified policies and automation reduced device provisioning time and lowered the IT team’s workload, limiting day-to-day involvement in infrastructure operations. Centralized Microsoft Intune management improved security, strengthened compliance, and increased operational predictability by applying consistent standards across endpoints. A successful remote pilot confirmed the stability of the environment, and the delivered documentation and training enabled the internal IT team to continue the rollout independently, supported by a scalable foundation for future growth across the entire device ecosystem.
