Sii delivered a mobile application for the Shakespeare Festival
16.07.2026
In just two months, experts from Sii’s Mobile Competency Center developed a solution supporting participants of one of the most important international theatre festivals. This rapid delivery was made possible by combining the team’s mobile expertise with AI-powered tools supporting the design and development process.
Providing quick access to information, enabling convenient event planning, and facilitating direct communication with attendees were the key objectives behind the mobile application developed for the 30th International Shakespeare Festival. The project, delivered by Sii experts in cooperation with the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, demonstrates how modern mobile technologies can help event organizers engage audiences and enhance visitor experiences.
The Mobile Competency Center team at Sii designed and delivered a complete mobile solution that serves as the Festival’s digital information hub. The application supports users throughout their festival journey – from discovering events and planning attendance to staying up to date with the latest news and actively participating in festival life.
A mobile experience designed around user needs
Today’s audiences expect access to information and services anytime, anywhere. This applies not only to banking, retail, and transportation, but also to culture and entertainment. That is why the Shakespeare Festival app was designed with intuitive navigation and easy access to all key features.
Key functionalities of the application include:
- browsing the complete Shakespeare Festival programme,
- accessing detailed event information,
- navigation maps to performance and event venues,
- adding events directly to the device’s native calendar,
- receiving push notifications with festival updates,
- voting for a favourite performance in selected festival categories,
- quick access to essential organisational information.
As a result, festival participants gained a convenient tool for planning their attendance, while organisers gained a modern and efficient communication channel for reaching their audience.
From concept to launch in two months
The project delivered for the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre is an example of efficient digital product development completed within a short timeframe. Sii’s team was responsible for the entire application lifecycle – from workshops and concept refinement, through UX/UI design, development, testing, and publication across mobile platforms.
Thanks to close collaboration with the client, proven design and technology practices, and the use of AI tools supporting design, development, and testing activities, the final solution was delivered in just two months.
Mobile applications have become one of the most important touchpoints between organisations and their audiences. In this project, our focus was to create a solution that connects participants with the Festival in a simple and intuitive way while providing fast access to all essential information. Within two months, we completed the entire scope of work—from concept and application design to development, testing, and publication. Such a rapid delivery was possible thanks to the effective use of AI tools, which are now an integral part of our software development process. The result is an application that allows participants to focus on what matters most – the festival events and emotions – while providing organisers with an effective way to communicate with their audience, said Michal Wojtowicz, Mobile Competency Center Manager at Sii Poland.
Technology supporting an international event
Organised by the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre and the Theatrum Gedanense Foundation, the Shakespeare Festival is among the most prestigious international theatre events in Europe. For more than three decades, it has brought together outstanding artists, theatre companies, and audiences from around the world.
Previous editions of the Festival have attracted more than 15,800 attendees, featured nearly 5,000 artists from 44 countries, included 905 festival events, and welcomed 360 theatre groups. Over the course of 30 editions, audiences have enjoyed performances and interpretations of Shakespeare’s works created by artists from more than 40 countries.
The scale of the event makes efficient communication and fast access to up-to-date information essential elements of the festival experience. The new application addresses these needs by providing organisers with an effective communication channel and giving participants access to all key features in one place.
The 30th edition of the International Shakespeare Festival will take place from 23 July to 2 August 2026.
