More than 500 measures and attributes in the analytical model
Standardized reporting and faster procurement decisions
Dispersed data making cost control and supply planning difficult
Aircraft engine manufacturing is a process of enormous scale – hundreds of suppliers, thousands of orders, and strict parts delivery schedules. Any delay or discrepancy in procurement data can translate into a production line stoppage or an increase in operating costs. Within the organization’s international structure, information about suppliers, orders, and costs was dispersed across multiple systems. The lack of consistent reports made budget management and verification of procurement trends difficult. An additional challenge was the need to analyze data from three levels of purchase order documents – the header, the document line, and the schedule line – as well as related documents such as partial invoices, final invoices, and material receipt documents in the warehouse. Without a common model, it was also difficult to analyze the aging of requisitions, open orders, and invoices. The company therefore needed a consistent data environment that would connect dispersed sources, ensure the quality and integrity of information, and enable fast, fact-based business decisions. Sii Poland was selected to deliver the project as a partner with experience in designing and implementing scalable Data Warehouse-class solutions for globally operating enterprises.
Integrated analytical environment for the procurement department
The Sii Poland team delivered a comprehensive solution covering the design, implementation, and automation of reporting processes. The project lasted approximately 12 months and was delivered by 3 Sii experts.
The scope of work included:
- Building a data warehouse that combined information from three sources: SAP, the MRP system, and the LOGISTICS database
- Developing an analytical model with more than 500 measures and attributes, enabling analysis of costs, spending, and trends
- Supporting the full set of procurement documents – from purchase orders to invoices and deliveries
- A one-time load of 50 days of historical data, which made it possible to include changes over time from the start of the analysis
- Implementing automated data quality tests based on the NBi Framework
Thanks to data centralization and automation of reporting processes, analysts can now create reports and recommendations for procurement departments and management very quickly.
Data consistency and effective business decisions
The new solution made it possible to integrate and organize procurement data in a single, scalable environment. Standardized reporting and automated tests ensured high data quality and full process transparency.
Thanks to the project delivered by Sii, the client’s procurement teams can now work faster and more precisely. The new data warehouse is not only a reporting tool, but also a foundation for further digitalization of procurement processes – from predictive analytics to automated decision recommendations. In addition, automation of data feeds and standardization of data models significantly reduced the manual work of analytical teams, while management gained fast access to reliable, standardized strategic indicators in one place – accelerating procurement and budget decisions.
