Modernizing Flying Tiger’s online store

Preparing the e-commerce platform for future growth

In the fast-paced retail industry, a stable and high-performing e-commerce channel is essential for scaling online sales and delivering a consistent customer experience across all touchpoints. Flying Tiger had expanded its online store over time to support evolving business requirements and growing operations.

As the platform evolved, the use of multiple technologies and the lack of common frontend standards began to slow down further development. A complex codebase, partially overwritten over the years, made changes more difficult to implement, extended release cycles, and reduced the predictability of future enhancements.

To create a solid foundation for continued e-commerce growth and establish a more consistent long-term development approach, Flying Tiger partnered with Sii Poland, a team experienced in modernizing and standardizing e-commerce environments.

Modern frontend standards and a cleaner architecture

Sii’s goal was to improve the platform’s maintainability and create a faster, more stable, and easier-to-develop online store.

The Sii team took responsibility for modernizing the frontend layer and optimizing communication between the frontend and backend systems.

The scope of work included:

  • Implementing modern frontend-backend communication without page reloads to improve performance and interactivity
  • Fixing issues and refactoring existing code to eliminate risks related to redundant and overwritten components
  • Removing unnecessary libraries to simplify the environment and improve maintainability
  • Introducing SCSS and ES6+ JavaScript to support cleaner, modular, and scalable code development
  • Optimizing the build process with Webpack, reducing compilation times and improving frontend performance

As a result, the store gained a modern, consistent, and well-structured architecture that supports ongoing e-commerce development.

Faster performance and a more reliable shopping experience

By modernizing and streamlining the e-commerce platform, Flying Tiger improved the stability of its online store and reduced the risk of errors during future changes and updates. A more consistent development environment shortened the time required to deliver new features and enabled faster responses to business needs and seasonal campaigns.

For development and maintenance teams, the simplified architecture reduced complexity and made change management easier. Implementing updates, enhancements, and fixes became more predictable, lowering the risk of issues and shortening release cycles.

For customers, the improvements translated into faster page performance, smoother navigation, and a more reliable shopping experience. Fewer errors and shorter response times increased the overall quality and accessibility of the online store.

Key results

  • Faster store performance through optimized frontend-backend communication
  • More stable environment after code cleanup and removal of unnecessary libraries
  • Modern and consistent frontend based on SCSS and ES6+
  • Improved user experience through faster response times and smoother navigation
