Summary
Key results
30% reduction in data-platform maintenance costs
100% data availability over a full year
Growing operations and the need for faster analytics
Hapag-Lloyd required a faster, more flexible data platform. The on-premises setup limited analytics performance and elongated data-migration cycles. To improve scalability, accelerate reporting, and streamline integration with operational systems, the company expanded its team with Sii Poland’s experts.
Cloud migration and optimization
The project’s strategic goal was to modernize the data platform and increase its flexibility and scalability. Sii experts developed and carried out a comprehensive migration plan that combined business and IT perspectives, provided Integration Management, and rapidly stood up a joint project team.
Scope of work included:
- Data migration and transformation using Informatica Cloud and PowerCenter
- Management and maintenance of existing systems on IBM DB2 and z/OS Mainframe
- Building a scalable environment on AWS to enable further analytics initiatives
- Operating modern reporting tools – QlikView and Qlik Sense
Sii covered the full project lifecycle – from assessment and migration planning, through integration, to support and knowledge transfer. Thanks to an integrated approach, the transition proceeded faster, without disruption, and with full business continuity.
Full control of data and processes in the cloud
Sii’s multidisciplinary team combined integration, analytics, development, and operations capabilities, working in an Agile model. Migrating and optimizing the data environment on AWS enabled Hapag-Lloyd to create a stable, scalable platform that supports global operations and advances its cloud-first strategy. The engagement delivered measurable results – migration and release timelines shortened significantly, and data-platform maintenance costs fell by 30%. With a consistent integration approach and structured knowledge transfer, Hapag-Lloyd’s internal teams gained greater autonomy and control, and the new data architecture now supports predictable release planning and rapid response to changing business needs. The modernization led by Sii established a solid foundation for continued digital transformation and strengthened the organization’s resilience amid volatility in global supply chains.
“Sii’s experts provided not only technical excellence but also a true partnership that shortened the project timeline and strengthened our internal teams.” – Hapag-Lloyd representative
