Trust and Psychological Safety in the Team – How to Build an Environment Where People Want to Engage and Take Ownership

Training language: PL

  • The number of participants 8-15 people
  • Duration 2 days
  • Materials language PL

Why take this course

In many organizations, the problem is not a lack of employee competence.

The problem is that people do not say what they really think.

They do not report mistakes.

They do not share ideas.

They avoid difficult conversations.

Why?

Because they do not feel safe.

Today, trust and psychological safety are among the strongest factors influencing:

  • Employee engagement
  • Collaboration
  • Decision quality
  • Team performance and speed of execution

This training shows how leaders can consciously build trust and psychological safety through specific behaviors, communication practices, and ways of working with their teams.

Day 1 – Trust: The Foundation of Everything

  • What trust really means in the workplace and how it impacts team performance
  • Why a lack of trust is not a “soft issue” but a real business cost
  • How leaders—often unintentionally—build or undermine trust
  • The three elements that determine whether people trust us:
    • Authenticity
    • Empathy
    • Credibility in action
  • Situations in which trust is lost—and how it can be rebuilt
  • What a team without trust looks like (and why this leads to low engagement, avoidance of accountability, and communication challenges)
  • Different levels of trust within a team:
    • Clarity of rules and expectations
    • Quality of communication
    • Confidence in one another’s competence
  • The leader’s role in setting standards for collaboration
  • Self-assessment: What signals do I send as a leader, and how are they perceived by my team?

Day 2 – Psychological Safety in Leadership Practice

  • What psychological safety is and how it appears in the day-to-day work of a team
  • Why people are afraid to speak up honestly (and what leaders can do about it)
  • How to create an environment where people:
    • Can openly discuss mistakes
    • Can express different opinions
    • Can ask questions without fear of judgment
  • How to respond to mistakes and problems in ways that build accountability rather than fear
  • Leadership communication in difficult situations—what encourages openness and what shuts it down
  • Building a culture of dialogue and feedback within the team
  • How to strengthen employee initiative and engagement
  • The leader as a “creator of the work environment”:
    • Leading by example
    • Transparency
    • Consistency between words and actions
  • Practical actions that can be implemented immediately within the team
  • Personal action plan: What will I change in my leadership style?
