Standardized and structured risk reporting framework
Improved quality and consistency of risk documentation across domains
Inconsistent risk reporting limiting governance quality
As a global healthcare group operating across multiple regulatory domains, Fresenius must manage risks in areas such as tax, environmental responsibility, and human rights. These risk categories require structured documentation and reliable assessment mechanisms to ensure transparency and compliance across the organization.
Existing processes for capturing and assessing risks lacked consistency and standardization, which affected the quality and completeness of risk entries. Fresenius therefore sought a solution that would make reporting more structured, complete, and aligned with organizational and compliance requirements.
To address this challenge, the company engaged Sii to design and implement a standardized Integrated Risk Management solution. Fresenius selected Sii due to its proven track record in the healthcare sector and regulated environments, as well as the expertise of Sii’s AI and Data & Analytics Competency Centers. This combination of industry knowledge and technology capabilities helped ensure that the new platform would meet governance and compliance requirements.
AI-powered platform for structured and compliant risk reporting
Sii designed and implemented an AI-powered Integrated Risk Management (IRM) platform tailored to Fresenius’ organizational and compliance requirements. The aim was to introduce structured risk reporting, improve documentation quality, and support alignment with internal governance standards.
The scope of work included:
- Developing and implementing an AI-powered IRM platform enabling structured risk reporting across the organization
- Creating a SharePoint-based interface for submitting and managing risk entries
- Implementing a Large Language Model (LLM)-based mechanism to assess the quality and completeness of submitted risks
- Introducing automated safeguards to detect vague content and block sensitive or non-compliant topics
- Integrating the platform with Fresenius’ internal processes and compliance standards
Higher documentation quality and stronger compliance governance
The AI-powered IRM platform improved the quality and consistency of risk documentation across Fresenius. Structured reporting and automated validation help ensure that risk entries meet defined standards before entering the assessment process.
Automated quality checks reduced manual effort previously required to review and correct incomplete or vague submissions. This increased the efficiency and reliability of the overall risk management process, enabling teams to focus on evaluation rather than documentation corrections.
By embedding safeguards aligned with internal policies, the platform ensures compliance with organizational standards and reduces the risk of non-compliant or sensitive content being submitted.
Thanks to Sii, Fresenius now operates a more consistent, controlled, and efficient risk management framework across its global organization.
