The global financial institution had to ensure compliance with regulations and internal ethical standards by monitoring communications in Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Its existing system, used to detect irregularities such as corruption, fraud, or discriminatory content, was being phased out. This created regulatory, financial, and reputational risk. The client needed a new machine learning platform capable of processing vast data volumes (petabytes) and enabling rapid scaling and process automation. In response, the bank’s management entrusted Sii Poland with implementing a solution to monitor and analyze electronic communications across the entire organization.
Modular ML architecture with MLOps and CI/CD practices
Sii experts designed and delivered a solution based on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Vertex AI, providing flexibility and scalability for handling sensitive data.
Scope of work included:
- Designing and building a new machine learning platform architecture in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Vertex AI – prepared to analyze sensitive data at a global scale.
- Implementing machine learning pipelines that automate model training, testing, and deployment, enabling fast scaling and maintenance.
- Introducing Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), including model monitoring, version control, and experiment automation, which accelerated the AI development and maintenance cycle.
- Integrating with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes and DevOps roles to ensure consistent, secure, and repeatable deployments to production.
- Optimizing code and compute architecture to increase platform performance and shorten data processing times for communications analysis.
The new architecture enables near real-time analysis and monitoring of employee communications, aligned with regulatory requirements and at global scale.
Compliance, security, and lower operating costs
The bank gained a stable, scalable platform for monitoring internal communications, capable of processing data at petabyte scale. Automating pipelines and introducing MLOps improved process reliability, shortened model preparation time, and reduced operating costs. The solution delivered by Sii ensured full regulatory compliance, lowering the risk of financial and reputational penalties. The institution can now detect potential irregularities faster and respond to risks proactively.
