ISTQB Foundation

ISTQB Foundation is the first on the certification path and basic training for all persons dedicated to testing software, especially analysts, testers, consultants, architects and also persons participating in projects aiming at creating an IT service or application.


It is suggested that candidates for the Foundation Level certification have at least six months’ practical experience in a professional testing role.

  • Gaining knowledge on the main concepts of software testing (according to ISTQB standard at the fundation level)
  • Understanding the importance of testing as well as its influence on the whole software lifecycle
  • Training the basic skills required of a software test professional and how testing fits into software development
  • Delivering the knowledge necessary to take and pass the ISTQB® Certified Tester—Foundation Level (CTFL) exam.

Professionals who need to demonstrate practical knowledge of software testing; people in roles such as test designers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and IT Professionals.

  • Lifecycle testing—relationship of testing to development, including different models, verification and validation, and types of testing
  • Test levels—system, acceptance, unit, and integration testing
  • Test design techniques—black-box test methods, white-box testing, and exploratory testing
  • Strategic testing—reviews, inspections, and static analysis tools
  • Test management—team organization, key roles and responsibilities, test approach and planning, configuration management, defect classification and tracking, test reporting
  • Testing tools—selection, benefits, risks, and classification
  • The number of participants : 8-15 people
