75 Power People in the #SiiBiegaDobrze challenge. Sii Poland supports the Rak’n’Roll Foundation
75 Sii Polska Workers joined the #SiiBiegaDobrze challenge to combine sports passion with the willingness to help. During three months of training, the participants prepared to take part in the 46th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon and the Nice To Fit You Warszawska Dycha. What’s more, all participants chose the charity path and raised funds for the Rak’n’Roll Foundation, totaling more than PLN 68 000!
— I’m very proud that so many people from Sii offices all over the country got involved in the challenge. This shows how much passion and goodness there is in our team! For many, it was their first start in a competition, some of them wanted to beat a personal best or simply raise funds to help the patients. Taking part in the project certainly was for them a source of great joy. Additionally, the project supports the company’s strategic goals of fun and Workers’ satisfaction — comments Aleksandra Kuna, CSR/ESG Manager at Sii Poland, the project’s initiator.
The #SiiBiegaDobrze team included runners of all skill levels, from experienced marathoners to those testing their skills at running for the first time. They also had various motivations for participating in the challenge: achieving ambitious sports goals, supporting the Foundation, and even taking their first steps in sports.
— Thanks to the #SiiBiegaDobrze challenge, I got off the couch and discovered a new source of good vibes! I never thought I could run 10 kilometers before, but I was driven to help. I took off as an absolute beginner, and now running is my leisure activity — says Aleksandra Frej, Senior Copywriter at Sii Poland.
Professional support up to the finish line – training with Asia Dorociak
During the three months of preparation, the participants trained under the guidance of Asia Dorociak, a New Balance Run Club coach, former national rowing team member, and a seasoned marathoner. With a personal record of 02:56:26 and a bronze medal at the Polish Half Marathon Championships, Asia provided amazing support for the Sii runners – she conducted online joint training sessions and created individual training plans tailored to the runners’ level. Her experience motivated the participants to overpower their limits and helped them persevere through each stage of the challenge.
On the day before the run, participants met at the Sii Poland office in Warsaw for a Pasta Party. Together with their coach, Asia, and Łukasz Kościuczuk from the Rak’n’Roll Foundation, they celebrated their running achievements and fundraising successes.
— The #SiiBiegaDobrze project allowed me to try something new and combine sports with a charitable cause; as a basketball player, I learned a different approach to training — says Mikołaj Ewiak, Senior Software Engineer at Sii Poland. — Running, although not my passion, became part of my daily activity, helping me stay in shape. I’ve already signed up for more runs to keep my motivation up! Our trainer, Joanna Dorociak, was particularly inspiring, whose story of overcoming health problems motivated me to run. Thanks to her and the whole experience, I want to continue to get involved in social actions. Sport has the power to change the world, and I want to be a part of it — he adds.
Sii Running Team for the Rak’n’Roll Foundation
A vital part of the #SiiBiegaGood challenge was the fundraising for the Rak’n’Roll Foundation, which supports cancer patients. Participants of the project chose it by voting from among the organizations cooperating with the Warsaw Marathon as part of the #BiegamDobrze campaign. Cancer is affecting more and more people, and for many Sii Workers, it is also a personal experience. Some have gone through cancer themselves or supported loved ones during their disease.
— When my dad got cancer, we had to reorganize our lives. This experience showed me how important support and motivation are. Although in the end I couldn’t run, I prepared with the Power People team with all my heart according to the training plan and enjoyed the joint sporting and charitable achievements. I am proud to have been a part of this event and that our company takes such initiatives — says Kamila Polak, Benefits and Communities Coordinator at Sii Poland.
Sports and helping – the perfect match
The #SiiBiegaDobrze project demonstrates how sports and the desire to help can unite people for a good cause. Common goals, such as raising funds to support cancer patients, and mutual motivation during training showed how much can be achieved as a strong team. By raising funds to support cancer patients and motivating each other during training, participants have shown the incredible achievements that can come from teamwork. Many are already planning their next runs, aspiring to reach new personal milestones while continuing to support those in need.
— Sii Workers’ participation in the challenge demonstrated that companies can successfully implement engaging CSR initiatives that blend strategic and charitable objectives. The funds raised will support pregnant women suffering from cancer. We look forward to meeting in the future Rak’n’Roll initiatives — concludes Monika Dąbrowska, a Board Member at Rak’n’Roll Foundation.
