Małgorzata joined the Administration Team of Sii Poland 12 years ago and today she works as an Internal IT Product Owner. In this interview, she shares the story of her career at Sii, full of new challenges and opportunities in a supportive work environment. You joined Sii in 2012. Do you remember what attracted you to the company and made you decide to join Sii?
I applied for the position of Junior Specialist in Administration and Accounting. The job description matched my experience and the direction I wanted to develop at that time. I remember being impressed by the modern office and the lovely girls at the reception in Gdańsk, which made the level of stress before the interview much lower. At that time, the Gdańsk branch of Sii employed over 100 people and there was a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. In comparison, today our office hosts over 1200 Workers!
This year marks 12 years since you started working at Sii. What has kept you with us for so long?
It’s definitely thanks to the Power People, who create an amazing atmosphere and make you feel at home, no matter which office in Poland you work in or what project you join. It feels like you’ve known them forever, even if it’s the first time you meet! Another important thing for me is the development and training opportunities. Currently, Sii is such a large organization that even if you want to change the direction of your career, you can do so through internal recruitment. I would call it the possibility of changing jobs without switching companies.
In which areas do you see that the company has particularly developed over the years?
Sii has developed in almost every direction, which can be observed in the wide range and diversity of projects, as well as the increase in the number of branches and, consequently, Workers. In recent years, there has been progress in the Passion Sponsoring Program, as well as in volunteering and CSR actions. These activities are increasingly numerous and on a larger scale. It is worth noting that Sii Poland has ranked high in IT rankings over the years, which cannot be achieved by maintaining quality alone – it must continuously grow to keep up with the dynamics of the modern world.
How have you personally developed professionally during your career at Sii? How has the company facilitated this development?
I started working in the Administration Team at Sii in Gdańsk, and then moved to the Sales department as a Delivery Operation Specialist. There, I was hired as a dedicated worker for one of the larger clients. Then I took advantage of the Job Changer program and applied for a completely new role! I succeeded, and since then I have been working as an Internal IT Product Owner, supporting the development of our internal applications together with the DevOps team. In the meantime, I have been on a “child” project twice – I mean, maternity leave 😉
You mentioned that during your career you used the Job Changer Program, which allows internal transfers to new positions, projects, or even branches within the company. Could you tell us how the process of this change looked like?
This took place after my second maternity leave. Returning to work after such a long break, I felt I had a lot to catch up on, for instance on how to use the computer 😉 But you also come back with a fresh approach and an open mind. So, I thought it was a good time for change and development, and besides, I wanted to learn something new. Additionally, it was after the COVID epidemic, which allowed me to work remotely for any branch, so there were many more job offers I could apply for. Moreover, the possibility of fully remote work made this decision easier. With two kids, it’s a great solution that allows you to maintain a so-called work-life balance.
What benefits does the Job Changer Program offer, and who would you recommend this tool to?
The main benefit is, as I mentioned, the possibility of changing jobs without switching companies. Usually, such changes are beneficial because they allow you to develop, meet new people, and even completely reroute the direction of your development. You participate in the Sii Mentoring Program as a Mentor. Why did you decide to do that and how do you rate this initiative?
I thought it would be nice to share my knowledge, exchange experiences, and learn about problems in other areas. I believe it’s a valuable initiative that connects people who want to develop. Both the Mentor and the Mentee, who receives knowledge, can benefit from this program.
You also participate in the Siimification Program. What badges have you earned, and which ones would you like to achieve?
I don’t approach it by looking for where I can earn a badge. Rather, if there is something I can engage in, receiving a badge is a nice addition. So far, I have earned the Brand Advocate badge for my involvement in promoting Sii. I have also received two other badges for recommending a friend to work at Sii and for participating in the Mentoring Program mentioned above.
How would you describe the work atmosphere at Sii and what do you appreciate the most about working here?
The atmosphere at Sii is friendly and supportive. The company places a strong emphasis on teamwork, which fosters creativity and openness to new ideas. Many people highlight that there is a culture of knowledge sharing and support for professional development. I appreciate the opportunity for continuous learning and the flexibility in organizing work. Thanks to diverse projects and training opportunities, everyone has a chance to develop their skills and broaden their horizons.
