Using Salesforce in banking processes

13.08.2025

Wykorzystanie Salesforce w procesach bankowych

Salesforce, an advanced CRM platform, is finding increasing use in the banking sector. It supports a variety of decision-making, approval, and customer interaction processes. Due to the industry’s nature, banks must effectively manage large amounts of data and ensure regulatory compliance; therefore, using Salesforce requires adapting the system to the specific needs of financial institutions.

In this article, you will learn how to use Salesforce in banking processes.

Salesforce applications in banking

One key application of Salesforce in banks is managing decision-making processes, particularly in the context of approving loan applications, allocating credit limits, and approving other financial services. Employees at various levels of the organization participate in these processes, from customer advisors to mid-level managers and the board.

Salesforce enables precise tracking of every stage of the approval process, quickly identifying decision-making blocks and streamlining communication between departments. Furthermore, it allows various decision-making processes and the ability to approach each business aspect as a separate requirement and tailor it to customer needs.

Additionally, when implementing Salesforce in a bank, it’s worth considering using Financial Services Cloud – a solution designed specifically for the financial sector. This platform offers a ready-made data model, automation, and functionalities tailored to the specific needs of banking operations. It enables faster launch of key processes and facilitates system adaptation to regulatory requirements.

Customer interactions are another area where the platform plays a significant role. By centralizing customer data, bank advisors have access to a complete contact history, including requests, inquiries, and offers presented to the client. 360-degree customer views are becoming increasingly popular in this area, providing bankers with access to up-to-date data. Furthermore, integrated data update functions enable the ongoing updating of customer information, which is crucial for meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring the best possible user experience.

Tools supporting Salesforce in banking

Banks using Salesforce require additional tools to support the system’s daily operations, especially when processing large amounts of data.

One of the most frequently used tools is Data Loader, which allows mass uploads, updates, and data deletions. This is typically used for initial data feeds or for individual, less complex business needs, such as updating the system’s contact list. Data Loader is a fundamental tool in daily administrative operations for banks, where customer data is constantly modified and expanded.

In more advanced cases, banks use integration tools such as Talend. These tools enable the creation of complex data flows between Salesforce and other banking systems, automating processes such as real-time data updates and synchronization with external databases.

Such integrations enable, for example, automatic data transfer from Salesforce to billing systems, ensuring the current financial information. Furthermore, such data can be integrated between different databases using various technologies, drastically reducing the cost and time of creating new connections and integrations.

Jobs or batches are also often used to process large amounts of data, periodically updating records in Salesforce based on data from other systems. These run in the background, eliminating manual user entry, saving time, and minimizing the risk of errors. They are used for highly complex business logic, where the two aforementioned tools are not ideal. Integration with a billing system is an example of such a connection – customer transaction data can be continuously synchronized with the CRM system, allowing advisors to see a complete picture of the customer’s financial situation.

Is Salesforce a good solution for banks?

From the perspective of Salesforce users in banks, experiences with this solution are varied and largely depend on the implementation method and the system’s adaptation to specific business processes.

On the one hand, the system’s major advantage is its flexibility and adaptability to the bank’s specific needs. The platform enables the centralization of customer data, which is invaluable in customer relationship management and meeting regulatory requirements.

However, there are also challenges. Implementing and maintaining Salesforce in large financial institutions can be very expensive, especially if numerous integrations with other banking systems are required. Furthermore, the complexity of the business logic and the need to use scripts and jobs to update data mean that using the system requires advanced technical knowledge. In practice, this requires the ongoing involvement of IT teams and Salesforce administrators, which generates additional costs.

The key is to tailor the solution to the organization’s specific needs and carefully plan its implementation. Interestingly, some banks are also starting to use Salesforce for data analysis and financial forecasting, further expanding its range of applications.

Summary

In summary, Salesforce can be a very effective tool for banks, provided the implementation is well-planned and the system is correctly integrated with other applications used within the institution. A smooth implementation requires appropriate resources and experience managing such a complex ecosystem.
